IMPERIO – Trakehner Stallion of the Year 2018
Imperio is sired by Connery, who competed successfully in advanced dressage under Kathrin Poll. His dam’s sire, Balfour xx, is a half-brother of Busoni xx, a stallion renowned for producing top-class horses across all disciplines.
Imperio was Reserve Champion of his licensing, later winning the Trakehner Championship as a 4-year-old, and at 5 became Bundeschampion as well as Vice World Champion. The following year he claimed Bronze before developing into an international dressage star under Hubertus Schmidt, achieving victories up to Grand Prix level on the world stage. These successes led to his selection for the German A-squad in 2016 and his nomination as reserve pair for the Rio Olympic Games.
As a sire, Imperio has produced 17 licensed sons (five of them premium), 34 State Premium mares, and 19 offspring already successful at advanced level. His son Heuberger won the 2016 Louisdor Prize Final, while Goldmond became Vice Bundeschampion Dressage in both 2015 and 2016.
In recognition of his outstanding performance record and breeding influence, Imperio was rightfully awarded the title “Trakehner Stallion of the Year 2018.” He also ranks within the top 10 percent of all Trakehner stallions, based on the highest competition level achieved by his offspring in dressage.
